Saddle Up! is Middle Tennessee’s oldest and largest organization offering equine assisted activities and therapies, and it is the only one exclusively serving children and youth with disabilities.
Launched in the summer of 1990 with horseback riding lessons one night a week for 10 students, Saddle Up! now operates year-round and offers our foundation program of recreational therapeutic riding, hippotherapy, equine facilitated learning, the Saddle Up! Equestrian Club, and multiple workshops/seminars.
Saddle Up’s mission is to impact the lives of children and young adults with disabilities by providing opportunities to grow and develop through therapeutic, educational and recreational experiences with horses.
Saddle Up! currently serves more than 250 children and youth who deal with more than 60 types of documented disabilities. Saddle Up! provides more than 5,500 hours of programs year-round at its ADA facility and 34-acre farm with a small staff and more than 500 trained, dedicated volunteers who yearly give 17,000+ hours of service as the program remains volunteer driven. Some 24 heroic horses and ponies are specially trained for their life-changing jobs. Saddle Up! is a PATH Intl. Premier Accredited Center and the only member center in Tennessee of the American Hippotherapy Association.
Saddle Up! deeply appreciates the support of our donors, event sponsors and event attendees whose generosity helps keep Saddle Up! the place: “Where all children are equal in the saddle.”
